A Printed Circuit Board or PCB is Mechanical Support & electrically wired the electronic components using the copper (conductive path) which is made by etching copper clad. PCB is also called as printed Wired Board (PWB). The PCB without component is raw PCB & PCB with component is called printed circuit board assembly it means the raw PCB is assembled with electronics components.
Nowadays PCB (raw) become very inexpensive especially Single sided Board (SSB) & Double Sided Board (DSB). Multi layers PCB are still costly due to its high setup charges. Single Sided Board (SSB) The Printed Circuit Board which has only one track (copper) layer is called SSB. Double Sided Board (DSB) The Printed Circuit Board which has two track (copper) layer is called DSB. Multi layer Board The Printed Circuit Board which has more than two copper layers. Material Used for Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Conductive Layer is basically is of thin copper foil the base is of glass epoxy (insulating materials) some types are as below.
(FR 6,FR 4,FR 2,CEM 1,CEM 2,CEM 3,CEM 4,370HR,BT,FR408,GETEK,Gepeg,HALOGEN FREE FR4,Hybrid,IS410,Nelco 13,Nelco ,3 Si, Polyimide, Rogers 3003,Rogers 4000, Rogers 4003, Rogers 4350, Rogers, RT/5880,,Rogers RT/6006,,Rogers RT/6010LM,Rogers Duroid, Taconic 6002, Taconic TLX-9, Thermount FR-4 printed circuit board material is commonly used Material)
Common Methods of producing printed circuit board
o Copper etching (Photo etching)
o Screen printing
o PCB Milling
From above the first two are widely used for mass production of printed circuit board.
- The Last one is using for prototype production of printed circuit board. Prototype PCB means the limited nos. of PCB which is for R & D purpose of new product or modification of existing product. The cooper etching (Photo etching) method is widely is used by large scale PCB manufacturing Companies all over world.
- Screen printing method is cost saving, but it compromise with quality. Also fine Printed Circuit Board with below 10 mil track & same spacing is very hard to achieve with this method. But still some companies are using this to manufacture the low cost Printed Circuit Boards.
- PCB milling is adopted recently for quick turn Printed Circuit Boards manufacturing. The Printed Circuit Boards are milled on cnc machine mechanically with routers (end mill). These methods save lot of time. But this method is not useful for mass production of Printed Circuit Boards. Photo etching With the below we will look the steps involved for Printed Circuit Board manufacturing with photo Etching methods.
Let's start from beginning how the Printed Circuit Boards are manufactured. Suppose I have requirement of Printed Circuit Board I will search the Printed Circuit manufacturer in my region with competitive rates. Select one from them. First I have to send the gerber files to him for quotation in that I have to mention few things about my requirement Such as PCB thickness, PCB finish copper, Masking, silk screen color (By default it is masking PISM green, silk is white), HAL, Lead free, Delivery time. When this data reach to Printed Circuit Board manufacturer he studies the data & gives the quotation. Following are Factors which play vital role deciding the price of Printed Circuit Board. Quantity, Minimum track, spacing & minimum drill diameter (Keep minimum track thickness & spacing between two connection 6 to 8 mill to reduce cost) Always verify the output (gerber data) before sending it to manufacturer.
Manufacturing of Printed Circuit Boards
After accepting quotation the PCB manufacturer goes for pre-engineering of gerber data. This is done in Cam department of the company or many service beuro are available which provide cost effective service to Printed Circuit Boards Industry.
Why service beuro? Saves expense on OEM license cost Saves expense on Salary, bonus & other benefits of Employee. Also the service beuro provide cost effective Solution on the other hand you have to increase salary, bonus & other benefits of employee on regular basis. What Cam dept do after getting the customer data? Cam dept. carefully studies the gerber data. If found any required missing file the customer is informed immediately. When all information & data is received, the cam dept. starts the pre-engineering of the job.
In pre-engineering the Engineer checks following things.
* Minimum Gap (pad/pad, pad/trace, trace/trace) It should be 0.006" (0.15 mm) to avoid expensive PCB
* Minimum Track Width It should be 0.006" (0.15 mm) to avoid expensive PCB
* Copper Voids The acceptable size is over 0.006", Voids below this should be patch with copper fills.
* Annular Ring It should be 0.008" either side this should be check with drill diameter not finished diameter
* Masking openings The mask opening minimum 0.002" either side. Oversize masking should be modified so that track exposure avoided.
* Unterminated traces Some times in hurry designer skip the connection & in gerber unterminated traces occur.
Next to this the PCB data is panelized according to order quantity. These details also can be found on cam service under the heading Penalization of PCB Drill file rout file is extracted (prepared) Penalization includes step & repeat. The data is multiple & venting & thieving bars are added around borders of panel.

The 2006-2011 World Outlook for Bare Printed Circuit Boards $795 The latent demand for bare printed circuit boards is not actual or historic sales. Nor is latent demand future sales. In fact, latent demand can be lower either lower or higher than actual sales if a market is inefficient (i.e., not representative of relatively competitive levels). Inefficiencies arise from a number of factors, including the lack of international openness, cultural barriers to consumption, regulations, and cartel-like behavior on the part of firms. In general, however, latent demand is typically larger than actual sales in a country market. |

Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) Production Equipment in Germany $195 How to Strategically Evaluate Germany. Perhaps the most efficient way of evaluating Germany is to consider key dimensions which themselves are composites of multiple factors. Composite portfolio approaches have long been used by strategic planners. The biggest challenge in this approach is to choose the appropriate factors that are the most relevant to international planning. The two measures of greatest relevance to printed circuit boards (pcb) production equipment are “latent demand” and “market accessibility”. The figure below summarizes the key dimensions and recommendations of such an approach. Using these two composites, one can prioritize all countries of the world. Countries of high latent demand and high relative accessibility (e.g. easier entry for one firm compared to other firms) are given highest priority. The figure below shows two different scenarios. Accessibility is defined as a firm’s ease of entering or supplying from or to a market (the “supply side”), and latent demand is an indicator of the potential in serving from or to the market (the “demand side”). Framework for Prioritizing Countries. Demand/Market Potential Driven Firm. Relative Accessibility. Accessibility/Supply Averse Firm. In the top figure, the firm is driven by market potential, whereas the bottom figure represents a firm that is driven by costs or by an aversion to difficult markets. This report treats the reader as coming from a “generic firm” approaching the global market – neither a market-driven nor a cost-driven company. Planners must therefore augment this report with their own company-specific factors that might change the priorities (e.g. a Canadian firm may have higher accessibility in Canada than a German firm). Latent Demand and Accessibility in Germany. This report provides a detailed overview of factors driving latent demand and accessibility for printed circuit boards (pcb) production equipment in Germany. Latent demand is largely driven by economic fundamentals specific to printed circuit boards (pcb) production equipment. This topic is discussed in Chapter 2 using work carried out in Germany on behalf of American firms and authored by the United States government (typically commercial attachés or similar persons in local offices of the U.S. Department of State). I have included a number of edits to clarify the information provided. Latent demand only represents half of the picture. Chapter 2 also deals with micro-accessibility for printed circuit boards (pcb) production equipment in Germany. I use the term “micro” since the discussion is focused specifically on printed circuit boards (pcb) production equipment. Chapter 3 is also a stand-alone report that I have authored. It covers proxy pro-forma financial indicators of firms operating in Germany. I use the word “proxy” because the provided figures only cover a “what if” scenario, based on actual |

Circuit Board Necklace $19.99 An emerging technology piece on ZDNet turned us on to research being done at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China on new ways to recycle circuit boards. Their methodology involves mixing up a nonmetallic dough made of the main ingredients polyester and crushed up circuitboards, which doesn't sound very tasty to us even though they called it "dough." But their facts were great. For instance, did you know that "printed circuit boards (PCBs) form about 3% by weight of the total amount of electronic waste" and that "disposal in a landfill is the main method for treating nonmetallic materials of PCBs, but it may cause secondary pollution and resource wasting"? So adorn yourself (or a friend) and save the world at the same time. Made from recycled printed circuit boards, these pendants are a little over 1.5 inches in width and come on an adjustable-length waxed cotton cord. The circuit boards used are pre-consumer waste, aka they've been printed wrong. So they've never been soldered, which means none of the lead concerns that sometimes accompany reused circuit boards. They come in a gift box for ease of gifting. Note: Each necklace is unique, just like every snowflake. Only with more circuit board than your average snowflake. So yours won't look exactly like the one in the picture, but it'll be the same shape, style, and size. |

The Circuit $12.78 After nearly 20 years of SAS operations, including a never before published role in the infamous Bravo Two Zero patrol, Bob retired from the military to work as an advisor on the international commercial security circuit. Certain his most dangerous days were behind him, Bob settled into a sedate life looking after VIPs. Then 9/11 happened. Bob found himself back in war zones on assignments far more perilous than anything he had encountered in the SAS: from ferrying journalists across firing lines in The West Bank and Gaza to travelling to the heart of Osama bin Laden's Afghan lair. As part of a two-man team, Bob searched for ITN Correspondent Terry Lloyd's missing crew in Basra, Iraq, while in Afghanistan, he was forced to spend the night as the only Westerner in Khost with a $25,000 bounty on his head. As the War on Terror escalated, Bob contended with increasingly sophisticated insurgents. But the most disturbing development he witnessed was much closer to home; namely The Circuit's rise from a niche business staffed by top veterans into an unregulated, billion dollar industry that too often places profits above lives. This is an important, pulse-racing and at times shocking testament to what is really happening, on the ground, in the major trouble spots of the world, culminating in an explosive conclusion: The Circuit is undermining the War on Terror. |
