Gold coins that mark ancient history have become very valuable because they cannot be found easily. Most people are not even aware of this fact. They need to get more information about these uncommon coins.
Such coins were in the past minted and given to the people for the purpose of marking important historical events but now they are valuable collectors items all over the world. These coins carry historical memories of events that happened thousands of years ago, and history that has evolved over the years.
The coins have historical importance and were once issued to commemorate particular events that happened in those countries many years ago which explains their value. You might find special designs on them that are easily identifiable.
These coins are unique in the sense that many of them were minted in their time for general use as currency but others were specifically released to celebrate great events that are now precious history. Numismatists are the people who have greatest pride and interest in such coins because they treat them as historical collectibles or souvenirs, plus they are priceless.
It had been the tendency for coins to be made to celebrate the great events in many states which could be things like conquests during wars, or whenever a new ruler came to the throne. They would often be given out to the citizenry to celebrate the national events or to make the people look up to the new head of state.
In addition, these aged coins were actually made from pure gold or silver which inevitably added to their value.
It is significant to note that after World War II; the global economy fell considerably, thereby making it quite uneconomical to produce such coins. The most valuable coins actually dated prior to that period but the other currencies were from base metal.
The values of such coins have now shot through the roof because mostly they are very rare, are now very much treasured as collector items and also because they are precious silver and gold. Then one must consider the engravings on the coins that carry historical values because that is the angle that makes them even more valuable.

The author won a Numismatic Literary Guild Award for this Edition. The Third Edition, a 600 page book with over a thousand enlarged scans of the coins from the mid 1800's to 1970 show coins from around the world - Afghanistan to Yemen. Euro Gold and Silver Commemorative Coins (Belgium) $95.59 Euro gold and silver commemorative coins are special euro coins minted and issued by member states of the Eurozone, mainly in gold and silver, although other precious metals are also used in rare occasions. Belgium was one of the first twelve countries in the Eurozone that introduced the euro () on 1 January 2002. Since then, the Belgian Royal Mint have been minting both normal issues of Belgian euro coins, which are intended for circulation, and commemorative euro coins in gold and silver. These special coins have a legal tender only in Belgium, unlike the normal issues of the Belgian euro coins, which have a legal tender in every country of the Eurozone. This means that the commemorative coins made of gold and silver cannot be used as money in other countries. Furthermore, as their bullion value generally vastly exceeds their face value, these coins are not intended to be used as means of payment at allalthough it remains possible. For this reason, they are usually named Collectors coins. The coins usually commemorate the anniversaries of historical events or draw attention to current events of special importance. Author: Miller, Frederic P./ Vandome, Agnes F./ McBrewster, John Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 138 Publication Date: 2010/04/27 Language: English Dimensions: 5.98 x 9.01 x 0.32 inches |
