When professional art studios and galleries are in need of the highest quality, ready made metal picture frames, they will often select Nielson picture frames for this purpose. Nielsen frames are lovely when used to frame fine art photographs, but the frames are also completely suitable for other framing projects where the artist wants the best museum quality materials used in framing.
Nielsen frames also go by the name of Nielsen Bainbridge frames. This is because the Nielsen company joined with Bainbridge, a company known for producing the finest quality matboard, and together they have created an archival quality picture frame suitable for conservation quality framing.
Nielsen frames are made of extruded, anodized and colored aluminum. Quality processing is assured by Nielsen because they do all of the manufacturing and finishing of their Nielsen frames in their own facilities.
Nielsen photo frames are popular for use in art galleries that feature fine art photography. Often, fine art photographs are framed using black metal Nielson frames that are narrow in molding width, and that, along with a wide white matboard, helps to draw attention to the fine artwork within the frame. It is also less distracting in a gallery setting where many pictures are on display to use similar-looking frames and mats to keep the viewers' attention on the art. Also, by virtue of the fact that Nielsen photo frames are ready made, they offer museum quality frames at a fraction of the cost of custom built frames.
It is not only art galleries and studios that use Nielsen Bainbridge frames, because they are also commonly seen in use for home artwork framing applications. Diplomas and certificates are instantly dressed up when they are inserted into Nielsen frames. These important documents are also kept safe from damage by moisture or pollution, in part because of the conservation quality of the materials used in producing Nielsen picture frames.
The Nielson frames are widely used in other framing applications. Many artists choose these luxurious frames because they are easy to use and come in a wide range of sizes that fit most standard sized artwork.
In order to achieve maximum protection for your fine artwork, you will want to use archival quality mat and mount board, as well as glazing and picture corners or hinging tape in conjunction with your museum quality nielsen frames. The mat will keep moisture from building up on the surface of the artwork, and the glazing will help to reduce ultraviolet damage from the sun. All of these framing products can be found at better fine art photography framing suppliers.

Framing Consciousness in Art $109.2 Framing Consciousness in Art shows how the frames-in-frames in these different contexts question notions of vision and representation, linear time, conventional spatial coordinates, binaries of ‘internal’ consciousness and ‘external’ world, subject and object, and the precise anatomy of mental states by which we are meant to carve up the territory of consciousness. The phenomenological experience of art is certainly as important as the folk psychology which scientists and philosophers use to taxonomise ordinary first-person modes of subjectivity. Yet art excels in configuring the visual field in order to articulate and sustain a complex network of higher-order thoughts structuring art and consciousness. |

Framing Russian Art $70 The notion of the frame in art can refer not only to a material frame bordering an image, but also to a conceptual frame. Both meanings are essential to how the work is perceived. In Framing Russian Art , art historian Oleg Tarasov investigates the role of the frame in its literal function of demarcating a work of art and in its conceptual function affectingthe understanding of what is seen.             The first part of the book is dedicated to the framework of the Russian icon. Here, Tarasov explores the historical and cultural meanings of the icon’s,setting, and of the iconostasis. Tarasov’s study then moves through Russian and European art from ancient times to the twentieth century, including abstract art and Suprematism. Along the way, Tarasov pays special attention to the Russian baroque period and the famous nineteenth century Russian battle painter Vasily Vereshchagin.  This enlightening account of the cultural phenomenon of the frame and its ever-changing functions will appeal to students and scholars of Russian art history. |

Framing Intersectionality $49.95 Originally conceived by Kimberlé Crenshaw in 1989 as a tool for the analysis of the ways in which different forms of social inequality, oppression and discrimination interact and overlap in multidimensional ways, the concept of 'intersectionality' has attracted much attention in international feminist debates over the last decade. Framing Intersectionality brings together proponents and critics of the concept, to discuss the 'state of the art' with those that have been influential in the debates that surround it. Exploring issues such as migration, identity, media coverage of sexual violence against men and transnational livelihoods of high and low skilled migrants, this book will be of interest to researchers in the fields of gender, women's studies, masculinity, inequalities and feminist thought. |

Framing Borders in Literature and Other Media $140 This book is both a contribution to an interdisciplinary study of literature and other media and a pioneering application of cognitive and frame-theoretical approaches to these fields. In the temporal media a privileged place for the coding of cognitive frames are the beginnings while in spatial media physical borders take over many framing functions. This volume investigates forms and functions of such framing spaces from a transmedial perspective by juxtaposing and comparing the framing potential of individual media and works. After an introductory theoretical essay, which aims to clarify basic concepts, the volume presents eighteen contributions by scholars from various disciplines who deal with individual media. The first section is dedicated to framing in or through the visual arts and includes discussions of the illustrations of medieval manuscripts, the practice of framing pictures from the Middle Ages to Magritte and contemporary American art as well as framings in printmaking and architecture. The second part deals with literary texts and ranges from studies centred on framings in frame stories to essays focussing on the use of paratextual, textual and non-verbal media in the framings of classical, medieval and modern German and American narrative literature; moreover, it includes studies on defamiliarized framings, e.g. by Julio Cortázar and Jasper Fforde, as well as an essay on end-framing practices. Sections on framings in film (including the trailers of Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings ) and in music (operatic overtures and Schumann’s piano pieces) provide perspectives on further media. The volume is of relevance to students and scholars from various fields: intermedia studies, cognitive approaches to the media, literary and film studies, history of art, and musicology. |
