Hairlines - A series of minute lines or scratches, usually visible in the field of a coin, caused by cleaning or polishing.
Half Eagle - A United States $5.00 gold coin.
Handsigned Note - One which has one or more actual autogtaphed signatures of an authorized person. Signatures may also be engraved or handstamped.
Hologram - A special type of photographic film used in 3D imaging. These are sometimes used as a security device such as the new style U.S. currency.

Slight surface wear is visible upon close inspection. There may be slight fraying on some corners. Picture focus may be slightly out-of-register. A minor printing blemish is acceptable. Slight wax staining is acceptable on the back of the card only. Most of the original gloss is retained. Centering must be approximately 70/30 to 75/25 or better on the front and 90/10 or better on the back.

Uncirculated or Choice Uncirculated
Features no trace of circulation but can have centering issues, pin holes, counting smudges, wrinkles, close margins or even a corner tip fold so long as it's not into the design. A Choice Uncirculated note is very nice but not quite gem. Centering may be just a tad off. May show some aging or light counting smudges or wrinkles.
Most of us learned to evaluate our field, and its collectibles as an essential aspect of business as have the sophisticated, long-term collectors. We can accurately judge the value of any collectible item with a quick inspection. Today many collectors specify independent third party appraisals and are specific about the particular service they prefer. Every purchase of an item for resale brings with it the possibility of a negative appraisal and therefore we can be stuck with an unsalable item.
