A proud icon of Liberty and Freedom
Located on an island of 12 acres in New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty Enlightening the world was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States and is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated October 28, 1886, designated as a national monument in 1924 and restored for its centennial July 4, 1986.
Today Statue of Liberty has become the icon that represents America in the hearts and minds of many tourists. It is said that the location of the statue New York Harbor was chosen so that it would serve as a welcoming gesture to all those entering the Land of the Free United States as tourists, immigrants and the return of expatriate Americans.
The Statue of Liberty classical appearance is derived from Libertas, the goddess of ancient Rome freedom from slavery, oppression and tyranny. His right foot is raised on. This symbol of liberty and freedom can not rest or attention in the harbor, it goes ahead, as her left foot tramples broken chains at her feet, in the symbolism of the United States of Desire to be free from oppression and tyranny. The seven spikes on the crown represent the seven seas and seven continents. Her torch signifies enlightenment. The tablet hand represents knowledge and the date of birth of the nation, July 4, 1776.

They are generally allowed to climb inside the statue, using the narrow spiral staircase that allows As visitors walk into one file. Most visitors climb to the crown of the statue from where they were a source of inspiration and a breathtaking view of New York City on the port.
Most hotels in New York offer packages to their guests to visit the Statue of Liberty. Be warned though visitors must regularly stand in line for three hours to climb inside the statue. Hotels in New York near the port area are the best option if you want to visit the statue, the region is close to downtown New York that offers good shopping opportunities.
